Electrically operated lift and recline chairs

The Camelot range of electrically operated lift and recline chairs offers exceptional levels of comfort, style and quality. Each chair is individually hand-crafted to our customers requirements.

All our motors have a smooth whisper-silent movement, providing both assistance and independence for the elderly and the less able when sitting, reclining or rising from the chair at the simple touch of a button.

Our chairs are purchased by the NHS, Social Services and the general public (through our network of national distributors) for people with special needs, such as those who suffer from rheumatism, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and general weakness of the back and limbs, or those who have difficulty rising from a normal armchair.

Please consult your Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Mobility Stockist for advice on non-standard chair sizes to ensure correct posture. The following Measurement Chart provides an indication of the modifications to chair sizes, which are available.

What is the difference between a Manual Recliner, a Single Motor, a Wallhugger, a Dual Motor, a Triple Motor, a Quad Motor and a Tilt in Space Chair?

i) Manual Recliner – Recline Only

Has no levers but works simply by pushing back gently on the arms when in a sitting position to a completely relaxed sleeping position.

ii) Single Motor

A Single Motor chair; from the sitting position pressing the top button will take the chair into the standing position. Then by pressing the bottom button this will take the chair back to the sitting position. When you press the lower button on the two-button hand control from the sitting position, the Single Motor chair will follow a set sequence (see the diagrams below) as it moves towards the 45° recline position, the footrest rises, the seat tilts backwards and the back reclines. You may pause the movement at any desired position. Variable angle lift on some single models. Choice of 30°, 20° or 10° tilt (30° Std).

The Singe Motor chair will also assist in an individual reaching the standing and seating position at the touch of a button.

iii) Wallhugger

A Wallhugger works in a similar way to a Single Motor chair, with the exception that it can be positioned 4″ away from the wall and reclined to 45° as the whole action slides forward. This action is ideal for areas of limited space.

iv) Dual Motor

A Dual Motor chair allows independent control of the legrest and the backrest, allowing a greater diversity of seating positions. The chair seat remains static. The Dual Motor action allows a good sleeping position as standard and with a cost option of a fully horizontal sleeping position to form a chair bed.

v) Triple Motor

A Triple Motor chair works in exactly the same way as a Dual Motor chair with the addition of an extra motor to assist in raising the chair. The additional motor works the back rest. It has a 35 stone capacity as standard (leg lift of 4½ stone) weight capacity and up to 28″ wide and a 50 or 70 stone (22 stone leg lift) weight capacity at 34″ wide.

vi) Quad Motor

A Quad Motor chair has two motors simultaneously working the legrest to provide a 25 stone leg lift, a third motor operates the lift function and a fourth motor adds the option to operate the backrest independently. Available from 24″ to 30″ width and a 40 stone weight capacity.

vii) Tilt in Space Dual

A Tilt in Space Dual works as the Single, providing an elevated leg position with the legrest, the seat and the back rest all reclining together, but with the luxury of having the backrest working independently and to provide a sleeping position. The back position can be adjusted at any stage to allow a greater diversity of seating positions. The seat tilts back keeping the weight backwards in the chair and providing an elevated leg position compared to the standard Dual chair. Variable angle lift is standard on selected models of Tilt in Space Dual. Choice of 30°, 20° or 10° tilt. (30° Std)
